How Much Does a Website Cost for a Small Business in India? (2026 Honest Breakdown)
Ask five agencies what a website costs and you'll get five numbers from ₹2,000 to ₹2,00,000. Nobody explains what's inside the number. So here's the honest breakdown — including our own prices, published right here, because we think hiding prices is a red flag.
Fair warning: we build websites for a living. This post ends with our packages. But the breakdown below applies whether you hire us or not.
The short answer: our pricing, right up front
We sell three website packages. This is our actual price list, not a "starting at" trick:
Starter
One sharp page: your services, photos, reviews, map, WhatsApp and call buttons. Everything a local customer needs to choose you. Ideal for shops, salons, clinics, and single-service businesses.
Pro
A complete multi-page site (5–8 pages): home, services, about, gallery, reviews, contact. Proper structure for Google to understand, room to grow. Ideal for businesses with multiple services or locations.
Max
Fully custom design and build: unique layout, advanced sections, booking or enquiry flows, speed-optimised, SEO-ready from day one. Ideal when your website is your main salesperson.
Those are one-time build prices. The domain and hosting renew every year — in our experience, a few thousand rupees a year for a small business site. We'll always tell you the renewal cost before you pay for the build.
Why one agency quotes ₹5,000 and another quotes ₹50,000
It's not a scam — well, sometimes it is, but usually the quotes genuinely cover different things. Five things move the price:
1. Design: template-based vs fully custom. A well-customised template costs far less than designing every pixel from scratch. For most small businesses, template-based is the right call. Custom design earns its price only when your brand genuinely needs to stand apart.
2. Number of pages. One page vs ten pages is ten times the layout, copy-checking, and testing work. Don't buy pages you won't fill — an empty "Blog" page hurts more than it helps.
3. Copywriting. Someone has to write the words. Agencies that include real copywriting charge more than ones that paste your WhatsApp-forwarded text onto a page. The words sell; the design just delivers them.
4. Photos and content. Stock photos are free. A half-day shoot of your actual shop, team, and work costs money and converts dramatically better. Customers can smell stock photos.
5. SEO and speed basics. Proper titles, fast loading, mobile-perfect layout, Google Business Profile wiring. Invisible work, visible results. Cheap builds skip all of it.
The costs that show up AFTER launch
The build price is the headline. Two smaller bills follow every year, and honest agencies mention them upfront:
Domain renewal. Your .in or .com address, renewed yearly. Hosting renewal. Where the site lives, renewed yearly. Together, in our experience, a few thousand rupees a year for a typical small-business site.
Then there's optional maintenance — updates, backups, small content changes. We don't lock clients into maintenance contracts they don't need. A brochure site for a salon doesn't need a monthly retainer; it needs someone to call when something breaks.
Red flags: when a quote is too good (or too vague)
"Premium website at ₹1,999!" At that price you're getting an auto-generated template with your name pasted in, hosted on their subdomain half the time, and zero support when it breaks. We've rebuilt several of these for clients who paid twice.
No portfolio, no price list. If an agency won't show past work or publish prices, they're pricing based on how much they think you'll pay, not on the work involved.
"Free website!" with a catch. Free usually means ads on your site, no ownership of the domain, or a monthly fee that costs more than a proper build within a year. Read the terms.
Guaranteed #1 Google ranking bundled in. Nobody can guarantee rankings — not us, not anyone. If it's in the quote, everything else in the quote is suspect too.
What about building it yourself?
Website builders (Wix, WordPress.com, and their Indian equivalents) are genuinely fine for a hobby project. For a business, the trade is your time against the result: you'll spend weekends fighting templates, and the finished site usually looks like everyone else's. Our honest take — if your time is worth more than ₹500/hour, paying ₹5,000 once is cheaper than 20 hours of DIY. If you enjoy the tinkering and have the weekends free, DIY is a legitimate choice. Just don't confuse "I built a website" with "I built a website that brings customers."
How to decide what you actually need
Ask yourself three questions:
- Do customers find me on Google, or do I find them? If Google sends you customers (salon, clinic, restaurant, architect), invest in a proper multi-page site with SEO basics. If you chase customers (B2B services), a sharp one-pager plus a good LinkedIn profile may be enough.
- Do I need customers to DO something on the site? Book appointments, fill an enquiry form, see a menu or price list? That pushes you from Starter to Pro.
- Am I embarrassed to share my current site (or lack of one)? If yes, that's costing you customers every week. A ₹5,000 one-pager this month beats a ₹50,000 dream site "someday."
The most expensive website is the one you never build because you were waiting to afford the perfect one.

Talk to usFrequently asked questions
How much should a small business in India spend on a website?
For most small businesses, ₹5,000–₹15,000 one-time covers a professional site. Our own packages: Starter ₹5,000 (one-page site), Pro ₹8,000 (multi-page), Max ₹15,000 (fully custom). Pay more only if you need custom features like booking systems or e-commerce.
Is ₹5,000 enough for a business website in India?
Yes, for a sharp one-page website — which is all many local businesses need. A single well-built page with your services, photos, reviews, map, and a WhatsApp button converts better than a bloated five-page site nobody reads.
Do I have to pay every year for my website?
The design itself is one-time. But the domain name and hosting renew every year — in our experience a few thousand rupees a year for a small business site. Anyone quoting you a website price should tell you the yearly renewal cost upfront.
Template or custom design — which is better for a small business?
A well-customised template beats a bad custom design every time, and costs far less. What matters is not whether the layout started as a template, but whether the copy, photos, and structure are built around your actual customers. Pay for thinking, not for novelty.
